What surface finishing services do we offer?
Common Mechanical Finishing Services
Mechanical finishing modifies the surface through direct physical contact. These services are essential for deburring, smoothing, and prepping surfaces, ensuring every component meets strict requirements for friction, fit, and finish.
As-Machined Finish
It is the standard raw surface produced directly by CNC. It retains the obvious tool marks left during processing and retains the original unique metallic luster. This is a cost-effective and highest dimensional accuracy solution. It is very suitable for internal structural components and functional components, which often have strict tolerances but do not have very high requirements for surface aesthetics.
Bead Blasting
Bead Blasting creates a uniform, non-reflective matte texture by fine glass beads against the part’s surface. This process can effectively eliminate machining marks, give the workpiece a smooth surface, and prevent fingerprint marks and micro scratches. It is the preferred solution for consumer electronics products and decorative exterior components that require a modern and sophisticated feel.
Brushing
Brushing creates regular directional textures on the metal surface through high-precision mechanical abrasion. This technique can produce a delicate “hairline” texture with a silky semi gloss, which can hide the wear and scratches of the product. This treatment is widely used in high-end decorative panels, kitchen appliances, and high-end metal textured desktops to create a elegant industrial feel.
Polishing
Polishing is divided into various types, such as electrolytic polishing and mirror polishing. This process eliminates surface defects, creates an extremely smooth reflective surface, and significantly enhances the quality of the parts. Its value is particularly evident in medical devices and optical components; in these fields, the requirements for precision and surface smoothness are extremely high.
Tumbling
Tumbling (including vibration grinding and barrel grinding) is an efficient solution for deburring and smoothing large quantities of parts. Using abrasives to remove sharp edges and surface defects of parts during vibration or rolling, resulting in a uniform matte surface of the parts. This process is crucial for manually handling complex geometric parts and small components that are difficult to handle.
Grinding
Grinding is a high-precision finishing process. On the grinder, a rotating grinding wheel is used to remove a small amount of material from the surface of the part, achieving the goal of eliminating surface unevenness and ensuring dimensional accuracy. For most hardened metal parts, such as shafts, gears, and internal combustion engine components, this process is crucial when standard machining may not be able to meet their flatness requirements.
Precision Mechanical Finishing Services & Abrasive Processing
Knurling
Knurling is a mechanical process that creates a pattern of straight, diagonal, or diamond-shaped lines on a cylindrical surface. Beyond its aesthetics, this process is commonly used for manual control devices, tool handles, and fasteners. By providing significant friction for the human hand, it not only guarantees functional reliability but also delivers a professional, high-quality finish for tactile components.
Lapping
Lapping is an ultra-precision finishing process used to achieve extreme flatness and superior surface smoothness. Our engineers achieve extreme surface refinement by rubbing the workpiece on a rotating grinding plate, using fine grinding slurry to remove trace amounts of material and correct microscopic irregularities. This can achieve excellent surface smoothness of up to RA 0.01-0.1 μ m.
Honing
The honing process can refine the surface texture and geometric shape of a cylinder. By utilizing a controlled pressure rotating grinding rod, it can correct micro irregular defects such as taper and out of roundness. This ultra-fine surface treatment process can endow the inner wall of the workpiece with fine lines arranged in a mesh pattern. This process can provide a surface finish of up to Ra0.1 μ m
Chemical & Electrochemical Finishing Services
Anodzing parts
Anodizing is an electrochemical process that transforms metal surfaces into decorative, durable, and corrosion-resistant anodized surfaces. Unlike electroplating or painting, this oxide layer will fully bond with the underlying aluminum substrate, which means it will not crack or peel off. It is an important means of protecting aluminum components, providing excellent wear resistance and multiple color options.
Passivation
Passivation is the core chemical treatment process for stainless steel parts, which can greatly enhance the corrosion resistance of the product. By using acidic solutions containing multiple chemical components, surface contaminants and free iron particles introduced during CNC machining are removed. It is crucial for industries with zero tolerance for corrosion, such as healthcare, aerospace, and food processing, as it ensures the integrity of parts without changing their physical dimensions.
Blackening
Our precision blackening service utilizes a controlled chemical conversion process to develop a protective magnetite layer deep within the metal’s molecular surface. Unlike traditional coatings, this ‘zero-build’ finish ensures that even the most critical tolerances remain undisturbed. It is the definitive solution for high-performance components where optical non-reflectivity, dimensional absolute-zero, and fundamental corrosion resistance must coexist.
Plating & Coating Services
Zinc Plating
We redefine traditional plating as an ‘interface buffering’ technology. Our zinc-passivate synthesis creates a chemically-stable exterior that absorbs the brunt of environmental oxidative stress. This protective skin is meticulously calibrated to expand the lifecycle of ferrous alloys, preventing the insidious onset of red rust that leads to component failure. It is an investment in longevity, ensuring that industrial hardware remains functional and aesthetically pristine through thousands of operational cycles.
Nickel Plating
Nickel plating is equivalent to a “professional level suit” with surface treatment of parts. It provides excellent protection while endowing parts with extremely high glossiness, wear resistance, and conductivity. Nickel is irreplaceable in precision machinery, valves, and high-end electronic components, allowing the surface hardness of parts to reach a range of 200-400 HV.
Powder Coating
Powder coating is the most visually impactful and well-balanced surface treatment in terms of protective performance. It does not use solvents, but instead uses static electricity to adsorb dry powder onto the surface of the parts, which is then baked at high temperatures to form a tough “plastic armor”. This process is designed specifically for heavy-duty components in outdoor environments, which can isolate most ultraviolet rays while protecting structural integrity from cracking, scratching, and oxidation.
